Many snake species can be seen here as the tide comes.

7:00 AM: Breakfast

If you prefer not to hike the inclines, we can split the groups up and avoid the steeper parts of the hike.

12:00 PM:  Lunch.

1:00 PM:  Rainforest edge road: Many species of arboreal snakes can be found right at the edge of the road that we will hike. There is also a visitors’ center where we can rest and have snacks. *This is not a difficult hike. If anyone needs to take a break there is a place to rest and use the washrooms.

Once we enter the park our main targets will be the KUKRI SNAKE, REED SNAKE, and the BLUE CORAL SNAKE which is quite common at this particular nature park. We might get lucky and see the critically endangered Raffles’ banded langur monkey in the park. We have spotted them there on previous trips! This is a level 2 hike. This beautiful island is where we will search for the BANDED KRAIT, one of the world’s most venomous snake species. We found one slowly moving across the banks of the mangroves just a few months ago on our last trip to the island. We will also search for the WHITE-SPOTTED SLUG SNAKE, SPECKLED VINE SNAKE, RETICULATED PYTHON and several of the snake species that we would search for in mainland Singapore, including the EQUATORIAL SPITTING COBRA. The greater mouse deer, which was thought to be extinct, was rediscovered on the island only a few years ago. They are now quite common! We will also be on the lookout for the comical smooth-coated otters, hornbills and sizable number of lizard species! *This hike is a level one. The roads are paved and there are no steep inclines.

12:00 PM:  A sac lunch will be provided.

1:00 PM:  We will continue to search the island until dusk. This is when we have our best chance of finding a krait or species of sea snake that may come in close to the shore with the high tide.

Huge monitor lizards and other wildlife can be seen only steps from where we will stay, so no need for any bus or taxi rides. We will begin herping immediately upon leaving our Chalets.  Tioman Island has a total of 97 herp species including several endemic species that we will be targeting, such as the extremely rare BLUE FAIRY PIT VIPER, TIOMAN ISLAND GROUND SNAKE, RED-HEADED KRAIT and TIOMAN ISLAND KUKRI SNAKE. We will also have a chance to see large RETICULATED PYTHONS as well as KING COBRAS. *There are areas of Tioman Island that have very steep inclines. The difficulty level for this hike can be a level 8 or higher. Keep in mind, you can hike at your comfort level and at your own pace. One of our guides will be happy to herp the less difficult areas so you never have to feel pressured to keep up!

Wednesday, November 19th, 2025:  We will have breakfast and make the trip back to mainland Singapore.

Mid-afternoon:  After arriving in Singapore, we will spend our last night at the hotel.
